Interview with Catherine Wolffe

Hello lovelies! It's time for another interview with another fantastic author I've met! Seriously, when I started on this journey a couple of months ago, I figured I'd meet a few people, but I never realized how amazing the indie community really is.

I've joked about this on Facebook many times, but my TBR pile has exploded in size and some of the books I'm most excited to read are by Catherine Wolffe. I bought Comanche Haven last month because I've always liked a good western romance. Those of you who chat with me on Facebook may have noticed I have a slight obsession with cowboys ;) Catherine is one of those talented people who likes to keep her characters diverse with everything from Comanche half-breeds to time-travelers to werewolves. How could I not want to interview her?

Even better, on October 2 she published her newest novel, The Lady in the Mist, the first in her new Western Werewolf Legend series! Sadly I haven't had time to read it all yet and do a review but I promise that will be coming :)

Enough of my babble, let's learn a bit more about Catherine Wolffe and her book The Lady in the Mist!

Interview

Thank you so much for joining me today Catherine! I have adored reading Comanche Haven and cannot wait to start your latest The Lady in the Myst. Tell me, when did you know you wanted to be a writer?

A few years back.  I’ve been reading all my life.  I decided I wanted to challenge myself to write.  There’s always been a story lurking in my head and I took the opportunity and support of my sister as a sign.  Therefore, Comanche Haven was created.

Wow that is eerily similar to how I started writing lol. What has been the most difficult part about being a writer?

The hardest thing for me is finding the time to write.  I usually get up before everyone else to accomplish that.  I joined a group of authors this year on Facebook.  We support each other in writing a thousand words a day.  That has been a tremendous help.  So far, I’ve managed to complete the first novel, start a journal submission tale of time travel and I just released the first in the Western Werewolf Legend, The Lady in the Mist.

That is something I struggle with too so I'm glad I'm not the only one. Who are your favorite authors?

Nora Roberts writing as J.D. Robb and Sharon Sala.

Those are two of my all time favorites as well! Who are the authors that inspire you?

Ally Thomas is phenomenal with the paranormal genre.  I love her quick wit and cut to the chase style.  Another is Wendy Ely.  She’s so talented with her presentation.  You get involved with her storyline quickly.

I haven't read either of those authors, but I will be adding them to the grown TBR pile for sure. Do you like to plan your scenes out or do you just wing it?

I’m a swing by the seat of your pants kinda gal.  The skeleton outline is there and I know how I want the story to end, but the fun to me is in where the characters lead and the turns we take on the ride – very exciting.

That is pretty much my style as well. I'm starting to discover you and I share a lot in common. What type of books do you like to read?

Romance of course.  Mysteries, suspense and history.

All wonderful genres :) What do you like to do in your free time?

What free time?  No seriously, I love to hang out with my grandkids, garden and of course, read.

I know right? I've heard there are some crazy people with tons of free time, but I have yet to meet them. Where is your favorite place to vacation?

Anywhere my family is.

Aww I love your answer to that one! This is where we start to switch things up a bit. Why did you choose to write romance?

Without love, there is no story for me.  I’m a hopeless romantic.

Me too. I just cannot get into a story without a bit of love in it. What do you love best about western romance?

The Wild West is a fascinating chapter in our history.  I think the combination of danger and love is a perfect backdrop for a great story.

I've often wished I could go back to that time, and not just for the sexy cowboys ;) One thing I admire about you is your diverse characters and story lines. Your books have featured a Comanche half-breed, a time-traveler, and now with The Lady in the Mist, a werewolf. How do you come up with the inspiration for your books?

The ideas come from everywhere.  I’m always on the lookout for a scene or story idea.  When I find something I like, I run it by my sister.  We have a great chemistry.  When it comes to writing, I can always trust her to be honest with her opinion.

That's so wonderful to have that bond with her! When was The Lady in the Mist released?

The Lady in the Mist has been out for almost a week now.

Oh yay! You hear that people? Keep reading for buy links!! I bought the sample you have on Amazon for The Lady in the Mist. It sounds so exciting and jumps right into the action! Are there any more details you’d like to share about the book to hold me over until I have time to read it? :)

The heroine, Sonja Brooks takes charge and saves the Confederate lieutenant with the only thing at her disposal.  When she discovers she may have inadvertently done more harm than good, she again has to make a decision based on the unknown.  Trust, lies and destiny all play a part in this tale of the war between woe and happy endings.

Well we are almost out of time, but I must know, what's next for you?

Another book to be released in early spring will follow the story of Sonja and Ty as they come to grips with destiny and their relationship.

Oh that's fantastic! I can't wait! Thank you so much again Catherine for taking the time to tell me a bit more about yourself. Before you go, is there anything else you want your readers to know?

I would love to talk with them about my books.  Please contact me at Facebook, Twitter, and of course my website to share your thoughts.  Please feel free to drop by anytime!

    1. Good to meet you, Suzy. I had such fun with Lindsay, she's a great host. When I reported that I joined the group, I left out the part about how we encourage each other despite the fact that life sometimes gets in the way of writing 1000 words a day. The ladies in our group are a great inspiration for me. Such a pleasure to meet you and thanks for the good wishes. The best of luck to you too! The world of Indie publishing is indeed giving those of us who write a new and wonderful world of opportunities. Thanks for stopping by!
